Mac App Store is a digital platform developed by Apple Inc. to distribute macOS apps. It was announced in November 2010 and released in January 2011. In June 2018, Apple released a new version of the App Store in the latest macOS Mojave system.
Apple distributes its own software (like iWork, Logic Pro, Garage Band, Aperture, Final Cut) primarily in the App Store, and the macOS operating systems can be updated from the Mac App Store. Besides, the third party apps need to be submitted and approved by Apple before they could be available to download in Mac App Store.
Mac App Store is a part of the Mac OS / macOS system. With the Mac App Store built into OS X, if your Mac is running OS X 10.6.6 or higher, you will be able to find the App Store icon in the Dock, right next to the Finder. If your Mac runs the older version of OS X, upgrading to the newer one is the only way to get Mac App Store.
Safety, ease of use, and one-click updates are the advantages to use Mac App Store on your Mac. You can manger all your app purchases and updates in the Mac App Store.
The recent macOS Mojave comes with a whole new App Store. The redesigned App Store features a new look, rich editorial content and more popular apps for Mac.
If you would like to try out the new Mac App Store, upgrading to the macOS Mojave is the only way to get this app. Before that, check if your Mac is compatible with Mojave (Mac models introduced in 2012 or later) and have enough space. Besides, don’t forget to back up your Mac with Time Machine (or other backup solutions).
To download macOS Mojave, launch Mac App Store, and check the available updates. Alternatively, click the macOS Mojave page, and then click the Get button. The download will start automatically, and the installer will open automatically once the download is complete. Follow the onscreen instructions to install it on your Mac.
